Volunteer Opportunities

Friends of Morden Mine offer volunteers the chance to work with a society with a 2009 goal of major fundraising for Morden’s preservation.

Opportunities include:

  • volunteering as a board member, coordinating work parties and special events, assisting in fundraising strategy and research
  • compiling and maintaining a database of members willing to donate some time and skills to Morden’s preservation.
  • selecting members willing to help with tasks when the need arises, scheduling time allotments, and arranging for instruction sessions.
  • helping with promotional campaigns and special events by selling tickets, distributing posters or brochures, forwarding mail-outs, manning booths, selling FOMM cards and magnets or distributing to vendors.
  • sending notices on a regular basis to regional media (newspapers, TV and radio) about meetings and special events
  • taking photographs for Morden Mine News and website, contributing articles, sharing historical reminiscences
  • clearing weeds and invasive plants around the Morden site and the adjacent portion of Morden Colliery Regional Trail
  • helping with work parties designated to shore up some of the most shaky foundations of the existing Morden structure.
  • other activities you might like to be involved in. Let us know.

If you can donate some of your time and skills to any of these activities, please leave a message with info@mordenmine.com or phone 250-755-3099.
